(1976). Evaluation Report of ECE, ESEA Title I, and EDY, 1975-76. This evaluation report is designed to provide a description and interpretation of the effects of local school programs supported by early childhood education (ECE) funds, funds provided under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA Title I), and educationally disadvantaged youth (EDY) funds. Although these programs represent separate funding sources, their administration is designed to achieve a consistent process of systematic program planning, implementation, and evaluation at the district and school levels. The report includes (1) descriptions of ECE, ESEA Title I, and EDY programs; (2) the methodology, instrumentation, and limitations of the various data-collection and data-analysis procedures used in evaluating these programs; and (3) the findings of the evaluations. This exemplary program in health and nutrition is designed to: eliminate the barriers to learning imposed by poverty and cultural isolation; increase the student's ability to learn; improve pupil health and attitudes; and, make the schools responsive to the social, economic, and cultural needs of the community. Bartley, Diana E. (1973). Staff Development Microteaching Workshop in Adult Basic Education-TESOL: A Region V Project. Final Report. The immediate purpose of the 1973 tri-state (Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin) Adult Basic Education workshop, a Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages project, at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (four and one-half days) was the training or retraining of teachers in English as a second dialect or English as a foreign language to adults with an educational equivalency of eighth grade or less. The workshops involved 35 participants in a program sensitizing them to the linguistic factors as well as the social conditions which make up their teaching environments. Microteaching sessions formed the core of the workshop. Also offered were lecture-discussion sessions and seminars. The workshop program applied the national program's seminars in applied linguistics, history, and culture to a regional level. Threlkeld, Paul T. (1970). The Effectiveness of Michigan Migrant Primary Interdisciplinary Project (MMPIP) Curricula in Helping Children with English Language Problems. To evaluate the effectiveness of the Michigan Migrant Primary Interdisciplinary Project's (MMPIP) "Interdisciplinary Oral Language Guide; Primary One" in helping 1st graders having limited control of standard English with the oral language they require for school, 6 unique conditions were imposed on bilingual and non-bilingual students (n=180) from 5 southern Michigan school districts. Four experimental groups received enrichment through the MMPIP curricula, while 2 control groups did not. A fixed-effects 3-way analysis of variance with independent replications was used to analyze the results of the Conceptual Oral Language Test and the Michigan Oral Language Productive Test. Scores were significantly higher for those students who had contact with the MMPIP materials through classroom instruction and also for those students who had contact with MMPIP materials through tutorial instruction.
